This is the most wicked game subject I have ever seen, and believe me I have played way to much strange games in my life, but this one beats them all. A game about surgery, titled “Trauma Center” for the Nintendo DS and Wii. The game received a Teen age rating for blood and mild violence.
It’s basically a surgery simulation, a bit like the tv series ER, in a cartoonish “Manga” kind a style. On the DS you use your stylus as a scalpel, an ultrasound device or an antibiotic gel, so lots of options to satisfy that “I always wanted to be a doctor fetish” in all of us. Overall the game received positive press, mostly for it’s innovating game design and usage of the touchscreen on the DS.
I’m not sure if Trauma Center is more then just a gimmick, and has enough replay value to justify the purchase. But it’s great to see something really different released for this platform. Atlus, the developer of the series released two titles, Trauma Center “Under the Knife” for the DS and Trauma Center “New Blood” for the Wii. The last title offers a 2 player Co-op mode, and online rankings.
