What’s the story?
In Velvet your enter a dream, an erotic one obviously. The dream takes place in a old fashion train, a bit like the “orient express” but more surreal. In this train you can explore your fantasies, or maybe even your fears. Depending on personal flavor I guess. The train has some very strange inhabitants, including 4 women we consider “archetypes”, the innocent Lisa, the dominant Missy, the confident Heidi and a mysterious black Lady that controls the machine room. We like to think of Velvet as an erotic journey, yours to explore.

What’s the difference between Velvet and other erotic games?
We didn’t want to make just an other “poke a doll” sex game. Basically because we don’t feel these games provide an erotic experience at all. In “real life” sex is all about exploration, touching and teasing. We use a mixture of interactive animation and a physics engine to provide this experience. In a few of our rooms the exploration goes quite beyond the regular things people do between the sheets. A dungeon where you get involved with some S&M play or the machine room with that wicked spider like machine. I hope we have some more visuals about the last room soon. We are still working on the animation set for this one.

Create your own movies?
Yes, from start we liked the idea of having this feature in the game. Mainly because you don’t just watch sex, but you animate it ( partly ) yourself. Every sex position has a typical set of animations, but the physics engine and the players controls will let you make your own variations on the set. These players made sets are recorded and can be rendered to an avi file. We expect quite a lot of these movies showing up on the web when the game is released.

When will the game be released?
When it’s finished, our usual answer. We are in the finalizing phase though, so we expect the release of Velvet before summer this year. We are currently working on some interface redesigns, and are completing our animation sets ( the screenshots show a few sex positions that have been tested in the engine already ). The core gaming code is finished, and is tested right now.

What are the system requirements?
The game will run on most mainstream windows machines. We will include enough customization options to tweak the game and improve its performance on more low-end systems. Of course it will look at it’s best with all the graphical options on full, including real time shadows and other nifty features. We will release the system requirements when we are finished testing.

How will people react to some of the more heavy scenery in the game?
Most sex in the game could be labeled “normal” or “regular”, but yes some things go beyond what most people consider normal. But if you talk about an erotic exploration, this automatically includes exploring things you wouldn’t normally do. So it’s a part of the game, but you can easily skip these parts if you want. The media will love and/or hate it, just as with our Lovechess series. Some people will just take out the “nasty parts” and go berserk, others will talk about it as a very “sex positive” game. Most people that played it, both males and females, think of it a playful approach of sex in all it’s diversity. And the game’s scenery and atmosphere prevents it from getting raunchy or to harsh for most people.
