Fury is unlike other MMO games not build around PVE progression. It’s totally based on player versus player combat. There are more significant differences, like no Classes ( you choose abilities instead ) and no Mobs to grind for experience or gear. You advance in gladiatorial combat, unlocking new abilities while you spill the blood of your opponents.
Fury let you enter three different game types, Vortex ( the capture a flag kinda thing ), Elimination (group combat ) and Bloodbath ( a free for all game type ). Fury currently holds an open Beta, free for everyone to join. The game client can be downloaded from gamershell.com, and a few other download sites around the world. Installation and setup works like a charm ( the usual download and patching stuff ).
Before you start smashing other players, you get an extensive tutorial of the game controls and game mechanics. Not bad in itself, but it takes quite some time. And some things are so obvious, they don’t need any explanation. After the tutorial, and your first battle training, you get your first reward and your ready to enter the Warzone. From this point Fury really disappointed me, it felt just like Quake III Arena, they just changed the setting. No big guns this time, but swords an magic. Sure there are a few differences, the avatar progression, the battle rewards etc… but in the end its the same hyperactive jumping stuff I hate so much in those FPS games. Maybe I’m just to old for Fury and 12 year old gamers can digest it better then I do.
The game graphics look very good, nice modeling work and shaders. But to display all the eye candy, you need a rather beefy videocard.
