An other one of those MMO games that hardly gets any attention, Dungeons & Dragons Online. It’s a decent game, with a very active combat system and enough content to keep you busy for a long time. But it’s not you typical Warcraft kind a thing ( I’m guilty in comparing most online games with WOW, just to make things clear, not that I state that it’s the best MMO out there ). It is not a sandbox/exploration game, and the game is not build around soloing at all. In Dungeons & Dragons Online you team up with friends, you do quests together and adventure as a group.
The questing system is where Dungeons & Dragons Online shines. No kill an X amount of badgers, and then kill an X amount of red badgers kind of quests. The Quests in Dungeons & Dragons mean something, and can be part of large chains that can take hours to complete. An other wonderful aspect of this title is the character customization, an area where most other MMO’s fail. With all the races, classes and abilities your character will truly be unique, in both looks and abilities.
Dungeons & Dragons Online suffers from something thats noticeable in all somewhat older games, “Ghostservers”. Be sure to check which servers are medium to highly populated before you start, this really makes a huge difference, especially for a group based game. Overall my impressions are positive, it’s a different MMO and still worth playing. On 17th January they released a free 10-day Trial, so now is the perfect time to give the game a try.
